After the "Berufsfachschule for Music" in Sulzbach-Rosenberg (Germany), where he also attended lessons with well known Eckhard Kopetzki, Michael Aures studied classical percussion at the University of Music and Theatre in Hanover (Germany) with teachers such as Prof. Andreas Boettger, Wolfgang Schneider and Andrea Schneider. The degree was followed by studies at Los Angeles Music Academy (USA), where he attended lessons in Jazz, Rock, Pop Music with such greats as Ralph Humphrey, Joe Porcaro, Marc Schulman or Emil Richards. Today he is a freelance musician playing with classic orchestras as well as Jazz, Rock and Pop formations. Besides that he dedicates himself intensively to music pedagogy.

Michael Aures participated as a drummer in many different productions, including live and studio recordings for radio and television, as well as appearing on several CD’s. He’s been touring extensively throughout Europe, Russia and the United Arab Emirates with US and Canadian artists such as Sharrie Williams, Johnny Ferreira, "Sax" Gordon, Toni Lynn Washington, Mighty Sam McClain or Larry Garner, just to name a few.

As a classical percussionist and specialist for playing drumset with orchestra, Michael Aures is a steady guest in several well known orchestras such as NDR Radio-Philharmonie Hannover, NDR Pops Orchestra, Staatsorchester Oldenburg, Baden-Badener Philharmonie, Staatsorchester Göttingen, Badischer Philharmonie Pforzheim or Südwestdeutscher Philharmonie Konstanz. As a musician and actor he’s been part of contemporary Music Theatre productions at the National Opera of Stuttgart. During the past years he also is playing Baroque timpani.

Besides  teaching  at Music School Fellbach near Stuttgart, Michael Aures coaches percussion at "IMPULS MusikTheaterTanz at Grund- und Hauptschulen", an integration project established by the Youth Opera Stuttgart. Michael has also been a member of the jury at the Federal German Youth Music Competition "Jugend musiziert".
